Targets

Objects on the playfield that the ball strikes to register a score or advance a game objective. Targets have appeared on pinball machines since the earliest bagatelle-derived designs and remain among the most fundamental playfield elements alongside Flippers and Bumpers. They take many forms — Standup Targets that absorb the hit in place, Drop Targets that retract below the surface, Spinning Targets that rotate on contact, and Hanging Targets that swing from above, among others. Designers arrange targets individually or in banks to create shot challenges, spell words, and gate access to bonus features.
