Pop-Up Targets
A type of Targets that rises from below the playfield surface into the ball’s path, appearing and disappearing according to game logic. When raised, the target stands as a hittable obstacle; when retracted, the ball rolls over the spot unimpeded. Pop-up targets share the appearing-and-vanishing quality of Disappearing Bumpers but serve a target-shooting function rather than a bumper’s deflection role. Designers use them to change the shot geometry of a playfield mid-game — a target that was not there a moment ago suddenly demands the player’s attention, adding surprise and variety to repeated plays on the same machine.
