Moving Targets

Motor-driven Targets that physically change position during gameplay, requiring the player to time their shot rather than simply aim at a fixed location. Distinct from Swinging Targets, which oscillate side to side on a pivot, moving targets may travel along tracks or shift in other patterns under motor power. Williams featured a moving target on Kismet (1961), one of the earliest examples. Modern implementations appear on machines like Jersey Jack Pinball’s Dialed In! (2017), where a motor-driven target adds a timing challenge that rewards patience and precision over raw shot-making.
