Rotating Targets
Targets that rotate or spin to change which scoring faces are presented to the player, adding a dynamic timing element to target shooting. The player must time their shot to strike the desired face as it cycles into position. Multiple manufacturers developed their own implementations: Gottlieb created the vertical-wheel Roto-Targets, Williams built four-sided assemblies they called “four position targets,” and Zaccaria independently employed a similar four-position arrangement. Rotating targets appeared across the Electromechanical era as one of pinball’s more mechanically ambitious target designs — a moving puzzle embedded in the playfield.
