Flip-Up Targets
A type of Targets that flip upward when struck by the ball, the mechanical opposite of Drop Targets. Where a drop target retracts below the playfield surface on impact, a flip-up target rises or rotates upward from a flat resting position, popping into a visible raised state to indicate it has been hit. The upward motion provides immediate visual feedback and changes the local playfield geometry until the target resets. Bally’s Elvira and the Party Monsters (1989) featured flip-up targets, using the inverted-drop-target mechanic to add a distinctive shot feedback during the Solid State era.
