Moving Ramps

A Ramps variant that physically changes position during gameplay, shifting the trajectory of the ball’s path as the ramp moves. Unlike Pop-Up Ramps, which rise and retract vertically, moving ramps reposition laterally or pivot to redirect the ball toward different playfield areas. WilliamsFire! (1987) is the defining example, featuring three moving ramps that rotated on motorized mechanisms to create a constantly shifting playfield. The design eliminated Pop Bumpers entirely, relying instead on the kinetic ramp assembly to generate chaos and spectacle — an unconventional layout that made the machine a memorable outlier.
