Pop Bumpers
Active bumpers that kick the ball away on contact, powered by a solenoid triggered by a switch beneath the bumper cap. Also called jet bumpers or thumper bumpers. They generate the rapid-fire percussive sound that defines the pinball soundscape and add unpredictable energy to the ball’s path. Most machines since the 1950s include a cluster of two or three pop bumpers in a region of the playfield where the ball ricochets chaotically between them, accumulating points with each hit.
