Rollovers
Switches embedded in or just above the playfield surface that register the ball’s passage without obstructing its path. Unlike Bumpers or Drop Targets, which the ball strikes head-on, rollovers are activated from above — the ball rolls over a contact point, depresses a mechanism, and closes a switch beneath. Designers place them in lanes, return paths, and scoring zones to track ball movement and advance objectives. The rollover family includes several variants: Rollover Buttons, which sit slightly raised; flush-mounted Star Rollovers; the ornamental Butterfly Rollovers; and hybrid Rollover Drop Targets that retract when triggered.
