DC Pop Bumpers

A type of Pop Bumpers whose solenoid coil is powered by direct current rather than alternating current. The DC-driven coil produces stronger, more consistent magnetic flux, resulting in a sharper and more forceful pop that kicks the ball with greater energy. Early electromechanical machines typically ran pop bumper coils on AC mains power, but the shift to solid-state electronics brought DC coil drive as the standard, with most modern machines firing pop bumpers at 48 volts DC or higher. DC operation generates more heat, requiring higher-resistance coils or series resistors to manage thermal load, and a flyback diode to suppress the voltage spike when the coil switches off.
