Ball Locks

Mechanisms that trap and hold one or more balls on the playfield, removing them from play until enough have been collected to trigger Multiball. A ball lock can take many physical forms — a Sinkholes that swallows the ball, a Kick-Out Saucers that holds it in place, or a set of posts that rise to capture it in a lane. The player locks balls one at a time over successive shots; once the required number is reached (typically two or three), the machine releases them all simultaneously, flooding the playfield for high-scoring, chaotic play.
