Data East/Sega Version 3
The third revision of the Data East pinball hardware, used from 1990 to 1994, with an upgraded processor and enhanced sound capabilities. Early Version 3 games used alphanumeric displays, but Checkpoint (1991) introduced Data East’s first 128x16 dot-matrix display, making it one of the earliest DMD pinball machines. Later titles transitioned to a 128x32 DMD, including Star Wars (1992), Jurassic Park (1993), Last Action Hero (1993), and Tales from the Crypt (1993).
