IPDB All we have and know about this game is the backglass pictured here, originally located in Brazil. It is a copy of the backglass for Gottlieb's 1975 'El Dorado' but is larger in size in both length and width thus shows additional artwork along its margins that is not found on the Gottlieb glass. It measures 22.1" W x 23.1" H (56cm x 58cm). When Gottlieb shipped knock-down games to Brazil, they typically left their name on the glass written in cursive while removing their familiar logo rectangle. This Turfe glass is the same way. However, we doubt Gottlieb would have changed the replay window from the half-moon style found on 'El Dorado' to the small rectangle found on this glass as that would necessitate a change of replay unit on the backbox insert that they would ship. Also, this oversize glass cannot fit inside the standard Gottlieb wedge head backbox which means the Gottlieb would have had to make a larger backbox insert just for a knock-down kit. Therefore, we think this backglass was not made by Gottlieb and this is not a knock-down game. A former owner of the glass who lives in Brazil told us that "Turfe" is the Portuguese name of the sport that promotes and encourages horse racing which he said was feverishly popular there in the 1970s. He suggested the horse on the backglass may have been a sufficient connection to this sport. used
