- IPDB According to an article in Cash Box dated Apr-14-1973 page 58, 'Trap Shoot' was based on a rifle game, unidentified in this article, invented by a man named Luciano Ceccaroni and manufactured by a man named Franco Chinea, both from Italy. This Italian game was "extremely" successful in French and Italian markets. On a trip to Europe, Chicago Coin vice president Avron Gensberg discovered the Italian game and subsequently introduced it at Chicago Dynamic Industries' national distributors meeting for their North American distributors held in Chicago on March 30, 1973 where both Ceccaroni and Chinea were present. The article stated Chicago Coin was scheduled to put this game into USA production in mid-April and would be hosting a similar distributors meeting on April 13 in Milan, Italy. 'Trap Shoot' was announced in Cash Box, Apr-28-1973, page 47 as "now shipping to the trade". There is no mention if Chicago Coin bought the full rights to manufacture this game or bought just a license. We have identified the Italian rifle game as Model Racing's 'Shot Now'. According to a photo caption in Cash Box, Jul-14-1973, page 48, 'Trap Shoot' was credited as being popular enough to have started a trend in New England arcades of setting up rows of these rifle games, bringing in increased play. Avron Gensberg's trip to Europe was apparently beneficial for Chicago Coin in additional ways. According to Cash Box Jun-23-1973 page 42, upon his return to the USA, Gensberg announced exclusive distributors of Chicago Coin products in each of Spain, Sweden, Holland, Luxenbourg, and Belgium. The company also was in the midst of increasing their Chicago facilities by 44,000 square feet. used
