ipdb.notes
IPDB Conversion of Gottlieb's 1967 'Hi-Score' and Gottlieb's 1967 'Super Score' where the captive ball spinner has been made flush with the playfield. All backglasses from this manufacturer are not silkscreened but actually are a piece of paper sandwiched between two clear sheets of glass, each 2mm thick. The one example of this game pictured here has been modified for 5-digit scoring by adding a dummy zero on the backbox insert next to each bank of score reels. The backglass was modified for this as well. Accordingly, the score values shown on the playfield each have had a "0" added to them. Similarly, the original pop bumper caps for 10 and 100 points have been replaced with ones showing 100 and 1000 points. Someone also added a ball return gate above the right outlane, cutting a path for it through the wood rail lining the shooter alley and applying nearby a red sticker indicating EXTRA BALL. Instead of a typical relay for this gate, a stronger flipper unit was used. The current owner obtained the game already having these modifications but explained he added two extra relays to disable the green and red bumpers which to him made the ball faster and the game more enjoyable. He did not indicate where these added relays were placed in the game. In fact, without a factory-original example of this game with which to compare, we don't know how many after-factory electrical modifications exist under the playfield or elsewhere inside this particular game, as might be seen in the pictures. used
