- IPDB This is an Italian-made add-a-ball copy of the USA replay Gottlieb's 1976 'Sure Shot'. As such, it replicates the USA backglass and playfield artwork but shows no branding on either. The half-moon credit window on the backglass is covered up and the playfield displays the word 'Special' instead of 'WOW', unusual for an Italian game. Although the apron has a window to view kick-up balls, in fact this game does not kick them up. The metal ball guide, partially visible through the apron window, is screwed to the playfield in the usual path of kicked-up balls. The plexiglass backglass is screened to count up to five added balls and, unusual for an Italian game, displays them with numbers 1 to 5. The coin door is branded 'Gottlieb' and the coin entrance housing is stamped 'Mondial exclusively for export'. A former owner reported this game has no serial number and the plywood backbox insert uses a layer of 3/4 inch white polystyrene foam on its front with cutouts for the light bulbs. We asked Federico Croci, a collector and historian in Italy, why this Italian-made game was copied from a USA replay game, something we do not usually see. He replies: "Usually, 'copiers' made copies of the Italian version, which in this case was Gottlieb's 1976 'Spot Pool'. But as the Italian importer of the time was very active against the manufacturers of copies of the original games he imported, this time they used for the graphics the replay game, 'Sure Shot', adapting it from the back (adding extra light from the hundred thousands as in 'Spot Pool', adding the lights for the extra balls, etc.), while leaving front graphics almost untouched. Coin door and coin insertion parts were dismounted from original old Gottlieb games, as well as the apron." used
