IPDB The game pictured here is the only example of which we are aware and we can find no information on it other than what was supplied by its owner and by the patent notice. The patent filing date is 1933 and grant date is 1936. Often the actual manufacturer dates are before or after the patent dates so they can only approximate what year a game was made. We also note that the several playfield designs depicted in that patent document do not agree with the playfield pictured here, suggesting a final design occurred anytime after filing. However, the paper apron on this game is stamped, "LICENSE APPROVAL NO. 39 OCT. 20, 1936" and on the strength of that do we date this game as 1936. We have found no information about this New York manufacturer. The patent for this game belongs to Albert S. Moorman. Included in our Files section is his Design Patent 95,920 for a different game that is unknown to us and may have never been manufactured. Interestingly, a 1952 obituary that we found for Mrs. Linda Moorman Hardaway in The Courier-Journal of Louisville, Kentucky identified her brother as an A.S. "Bert" Moorman of New York City and who was better known by his stage name, Bert Wheeler. The obituary stated, "although he was not the Bert Wheeler of the Wheeler and Woolsey vaudeville team and of musical comedy and movie fame, he was a vaudeville star in his own right." We also found pictures of a playing card game having a golf theme, named "PAR", invented by "Bert (Wheeler) Moorman" and patented Aug-24-1926, and manufactured by National Golf Service Co., Inc. of New York, New York. The box and its instructions refer to it with quotes around the first word, as "PAR" GOLF. Per an article in The Billboard, Nov-12-1955 page 129, Albert Stith Moorman took the stage name of Bert Wheeler and was in vaudeville, retiring in 1923. It appears, then, for his next act he designed card games and pinball machines. Moorman passed away Oct-1-1955 in New York at age 85. used

IPDB 12 balls per game. Trap holes (16). Pushing the coin slide starts game and dispenses a "Bag-A-Ball" score card through a slot in the lower left front of cabinet to be used by the player for personal scorekeeping. Pushing the knob at center front of cabinet drops the trapped balls through the playfield for start of play and closes metal gate in upper left playfield to block ball access to lower playfield. Pushing knob on left front of cabinet during play opens this gate. It is on the player's honor to follow the game rules to open this gate only at the proper time. Ball composition: wood, 1.42 inches (36mm) diameter Patent 2,027,244 [BALL ROLLING GAME] filed Oct 3, 1933. Granted Jan 7, 1936 to Albert S. Moorman. used
