    ipdb.notes
Pictured in this listing is a widebody multiball whitewood which apparently was fully functional at one time. The backglass name looks like one word 'LazerLord" while the copyright notice on the backglass lower left corner shows it as two words, 'Lazer Lord'. Underneath the apron, the name is handwritten as two words along with showing there the handwritten name of the designer. The simple cabinet art and colors are the same as that of Stern's 1981 'Viper', also a widebody and multiball. The cabinet is stamped with serial number 50294. The coin door and backbox insert are each tagged with the name 'Viper' and the operator options in the backbox are labeled for 'Viper'. However, the playfield design is different than the 'Viper' game. The ROMs are labeled 6-8-82. This 1982 widebody never went into production. The last production game made by Stern Electronics, Inc. was Stern's 1982 'Orbitor 1'. In 1984, Stern Electronics, Inc. tried to re-enter pinball machine manufacturing and produced a narrow body prototype called 'Lazer Lord' but with a different playfield design than the 1982 whitewood. It did not go into production. For a lengthy description of how that game came about, see Stern's 1984 'Lazer Lord'.
