IPDB Same game as the 4-player Williams' 1971 'Gold Rush' but made for export. The 1-player version of this game is Williams' 1971 'Klondike'. On the backglass, the yellow neckerchief has the letters "N C", a probable reference to Norm Clark. Reportedly, these initials are not as visible on other backglases in the production run. The promotional photos for Jackpot and Gold Rush are of the same machine but with a change of backglass and score card, and the playfield ball was moved to the other side of the up-post. Unlike production games, in these photos there are no posts in the gaps between the slingshots and the flippers. In the lower playfield, the Special insert is labeled to award 10000 points whereas production games are labeled for 5000 points. Pictured in this listing is a game located in Europe with serial number 94083 and with a Special insert labeled for 10000 points. The owner advised us this insert illuminates when a relay labeled "10,000 relay" is energized but it still only awards 5000 points when lit via five pulses from the score motor. We have labeled these game images as "Early Production". At some point in production, this relay was relabeled as the "Special Relay" as also indicated on the schematic. The schematic for this game indicates the presence of an electrically-operated large bell but the one picture we have of inside the cabinet does not have the bell in view along the back wall. The smaller bell in the backbox is mechanically operated and thus would not appear on the schematic.
