ipdb.notes
IPDB This is a second production run of Midway's 1991 'Harley-Davidson (1st production run)'. We have found no manufacturer documentation of this second run but we have the confident remembrances of two attendees at the 1991 Pinball Expo in Chicago who said, during the factory tour held as a part of Expo, they each saw this game on a mini-production line and the tour guide (an employee whose name is lost to history) said this was a second run made especially for Harley-Davidson dealers. Pinball historian David Marston was one of the two attendees and told us the guide told him a quantity of 200 was being made. The Expo was held October 25-27, 1991. We also have an article by Russ Jensen in the Spring 1992 edition of Coin Slot covering the Expo events and, on pages 21-22, Russ discusses the factory tour. He mentions the tour guide showing attendees the "mini-line" where a "limited production" of Harley-Davidson pinball games were seen being built. Russ states that, while the tour had been advertised to be at the Bally manufacturing facility, Bally games were newly produced on a second assembly line at the Williams facility so they were given a tour of both the Bally and Williams production facilities. Therefore, we do not know at which facility this "mini-line" was seen in production of this game. We also don't know if this second production run used the same Model Number 20001 as the first run or what differences there may be from that first run to know how to identify one of these 200 games. We presume the playfield is identical but we do not know if a shaker motor was included inside the game. used
