- Flipcommons AI Descriptions (MachineModel)*Carnival* is a single-player [[technology-generation:electromechanical]] pinball game that [[manufacturer:elettrocoin]] of [[location:italy/fi/florence]] assembled as a re-titled conversion of [[manufacturer:gottlieb]]'s 1966 *[[model:subway-2]]*, its new name giving the American table a [[theme:carnival]] billing for Italian arcades. Elettrocoin was one of several trading names — alongside Elettronolo and Elettrogiochi — that a single Florentine maker used to refit imported American machines, rebuilding *conversion kit* versions of Bally, Williams and Gottlieb games under fresh Italian titles.[1] The donor, Subway, was a Gottlieb design whose backbox featured a mechanical animation of sliding subway doors; together with its replay-model twin *[[model:cross-town-2]]* it numbered among the final Gottlieb tables to retain a manual ball-lift.[2] Under the Carnival name the layout stayed as Gottlieb had drawn it: its colored top lanes lit the matching bumpers beneath them, and the central standup target paid its bonus only if the two lights under it — one red, one yellow — showed the same value.[3]
