Flippers (5), 5-bank drop targets (1), Kick-out holes (2). No pop bumpers. Multi-level playfield includes the area located behind and above the lower flippers, where the traditional card holder would be. Each play begins with 3-ball multi-ball. Instead of the typical pinball game which gives one ball until it drains three times, Blackwater 100 gives three "Heats" of at least three balls each. For each Heat, three balls must be loaded to the Starting Gate, at which point the Starting Countdown begins. An extra credit can buy in anywhere from one to three extra Heats, depending on operator setting. The player has 15 seconds after Heat 3 to press the start button to continue. Pressing either green button cancels the Buy-In.
    ipdb.notes
This game uses the 68000-based "Sounds Deluxe" sound board. The first pinball machine to have the Buy-In feature of solid state games. The last game introduced by Bally before it was purchased by WMS Industries Inc. Dennis Nordman said 'Blackwater 100' was inspired by Bally Midway's 1988 'Escape from the Lost World' and that its name is licensed. He and Greg Freres went on location to record many of the sounds used on this game.
