IPDB This is a generic backglass used by Atari on prototype machines while in testing. It is unknown to us how many of these glasses that served this function ever existed. However, we have seen pictures of three of them with identical artwork but distinguished by their unique blemishes. Two of them are presented here. The lower left corner indicates copyright 1978. In addition to the four score display windows at the bottom of the glass, there is a similar window in the upper left area. Compare this undated glass: Atari's 1978 'Pipeline'. Dan Kramer is a former Atari employee and the owner of a glass shown here (photographed by Kevin Orme). We asked him to comment on it. Dan replies:I got this prototype backglass from another former Atari employee in the late 1980s. It would be used in any proto game before released artwork was available. There may have been a dozen or two of these done; I have seen two earlier Atari proto games with this glass installed. One was called Alien Space. Artist Evelyn Seto (Atari's 'Wonder Woman') told us the artwork for this test glass was done by George Opperman. This backglass is not to be confused with Atari's 1978 'Video Pinball'. used
