ipdb.notes
IPDB This game was first issued as Model 689 with Game Prom 689 installed. The game underwent some wiring and fusing redesign, and a new Game Prom 689A was installed. These changes were apparently made after production started, and a second manual with the same blue cover was issued for those games, now called Model 689A. Both manuals are comb-bound and may look too similar to each other at first glance so, to help differentiate them, we itemize here certain pages from each: The Model 689 Instruction Manual has a blue-on-black cover that is branded Mylstar and does not show a Model Number anywhere on its cover. Its Table of Contents page indicates this information: (Game #689) Game Prom 689 Sound Prom 689/S There is no addendum included with this manual. The maximum credits allowed with Game Prom 689 is 25 credits. The Model 689A Instruction Manual also has a blue-on-black cover that is branded Mylstar but clearly indicates "GAME 689A" on its cover. Its Table of Contents page unfortunately indicates the same information as the initial manual for Model 689: (Game #689) Game Prom 689 Sound Prom 689/S However, there is a 3-page addendum included in the comb-binding with this manual (not loose pages) and dated 8/14/84. This addendum refers to the game as "GAME #689A" and states the Game Prom is now 689A. This addendum itemizes the changes and additions to the initial manual and seems to emphasize a three-chute coin door. The maximum credits allowed with Game Prom 689A is 20 credits. ***** Most of the games we picture in this listing have two-chute coin doors. We don't know if three-chute coin doors were only possible with the Prom 689A or if the addendum announcing Prom 689A in referencing the three chutes meant only to include improved documentation surrounding the use of three chutes. used
