- IPDB '1942 Bowling Alley' is a converted game for Gottlieb's 1939 'Bowling Alley'. Initially, Glickman would perform the conversion for the operator, adding a new backglass and new bumpers, and repainting the cabinet. By June of 1943, they advertised it only as a conversion kit, where the operator could order the backglass and new plastic bumpers, or just the backglass. The earliest reference we have found for this game is a small ad in Billboard Mar-7-1942 page 75 where Glickman listed only the name of the source game that they needed to make this converted game. Their subsequent ads in June 1942 identified this conversion as "1942 Bowling Alley". In Cash Box, Vol. 4, No. 39, June-22-1943, page 56, Glickman listed the name as "Bowling '42". We do not know if this represented an actual change of name on the backglass. used
