Slingshots

Triangular kicker assemblies typically mounted just above the flippers on both sides of the playfield. When the ball strikes the rubberized face of the slingshot, a solenoid fires and kicks it back with force. Slingshots add speed and unpredictability to the lower playfield, often deflecting the ball into the outlanes or across to the opposite Flippers. They became a standard feature of virtually every flipper game and are so universal that their absence on a machine is more notable than their presence.
