Skill Shot

A scoring opportunity presented at the moment the ball is launched into play, rewarding the player for a precise plunge. The simplest skill shots require hitting a specific target or lane with the initial plunge; more elaborate versions involve timing the plunge to hit a moving light or choosing between multiple targets at different power levels. The skill shot transforms the plunge — historically a throwaway moment — into a meaningful decision point at the start of every ball. Some machines offer a super skill shot that requires a soft plunge followed by an immediate flipper shot.
