Aerial Spinning Disks

A variant of Spinning Discs mounted above the playfield surface rather than flush with it. The elevated position means the ball passes beneath the spinning disc and is deflected by its underside, producing a different interaction than the standard flush-mounted version where the ball rolls across the disc’s face. Sega’s Big Together (1977) and Southpaw (1977) both featured aerial spinning disks, using the raised mechanism to add a three-dimensional obstacle that disrupts the ball’s path from above — a striking visual and mechanical variation on the spinning disc concept.
